Mrs. Flewelling is the principal teacher and artistic director for Dynamic Dance Studio.
She's been dancing in the Calgary area for 36 years and has enjoyed teaching in
Calgary for 28 years. She taught dancing for 4 years for the Christopher Robin Private
School, danced and taught at the Allan Cozzubbo Academy of Dancing for 15 years,
and has owned and operated Dynamic Dance Studio for 21 years.
Mrs. Flewelling has completed all of her Al Gilbert Exams, Brian Foley advanced exams,
Dance Educator Syllabus I, British Association of Teachers of Dancing exams and holds
her Professional Teaching Status with the Royal Academy of Dancing. She has
also studied and passed her child psychology and dancers anatomy course through the
Royal Academy of Dancing. During the 1998 Winter Olympics she performed with the
ballet company in the opening ceremonies, and was also involved as a cheerleader with
the Calgary Stampeders during the 1989 season. During 1990, Ms. Flewelling danced
with a touring group that performed at the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede and which toured Gifu City, Kyoto, the 1990 Japan Expo and Tokyo Disneyland. In 1992 Ms. Flewelling toured extensively throughout Europe dancing in Paris, EuroDisney, La Harve, Scotland and Germany.
Mrs. Flewelling is a founding member of the 'Dance For Dreams' professional competition, which is currently the only Calgary based competition that dances for chosen charities. She has adjudicated the North Battleford Dance Association Tap and Musical Theatre Competition, the first ever "Dance Power" in Edmonton, the Central Alberta Dance Festival, the Junior Red Deer competition, Can-Dance Montreal and Regina, Dance Power Brandford and Burnaby. She has choreographed many high-score beginner to advanced solos, duets, and groups since 1984. Dynamic Dance Studio came into existence in 1990 and is an exciting and energetic dance studio. We have traveled to Seaside, Oregon, Disneyland in Los Angeles and Las Vegas to compete and performed on Carnival Cruise Line traveling through Mexico. Most recently we traveled to New York City for classes and a competition that the dancers seriously ROCKED at!
Mrs. Flewelling quotes "the goal of our dance studio is to promote the love of dance and to be serious about having fun". Her greatest love in life is her daughter Shanese and son Brycn. Being a parent "ROCKS"!!!
Mrs. Candace has been dancing since a very young age, originally from Edmonton (but we won't hold that against her!!) she started her training at the Mar Mac Dance Center. She moved to Calgary as a young teen and started dancing at Dynamic Dance Studio in 1992 where she has been home ever since. Mrs. Candace has taken and successfully passed her Brian Foley A.D.A.P.T. advanced tap and jazz exams as well as her Royal Academy of Danicng Advanced 2 ballet exam. She has been teaching at Dynamic for 8 years and is an exciting and vibrant part of our dance family.
Mrs. Candace is currently working towards her registered teachers status with the Royal Academy Of Dance. She has completed the first year of studies which included classes in syllabus, anatomy and many courses and essays. We wish her well in her second year of studies where she will be monitored by both a mentor as well as a representitive of the R.A.D.-good luck Mrs. Candace!
Mrs. Candace has a great eye for corrections and her never ending energy and sense of humor keep her students eager to come back to class. She is a dedicated, enthusiastic teacher who always strives to push each dancer to their limits.
Bachelor of Fine Arts
Tanis Baer is a dance artist and teacher in Calgary and has been working in and around the city of Calgary for over 20 years. Her training began at McDonald Wilson and continued at a number of studios including Allan Cozzubbo and Foothills Academy of Dance. Tanis was a senior dancer at Dynamic Dance studio when it first opened and enjoyed dancing with Mrs. Flewelling.
In 1995 Tanis graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a Dance Minor. Following graduation she studied dance at the Edge Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles for eighteen months. She studied with Bill Pruddich, Cindera Che and Mia Michaels. The training at Edge including a wide range of dance forms specializing in ballet, jazz and hip hop.
After returning to Calgary in 1997, Tanis was involved in establishing a non-profit dance organization En Corps Dance Collective. Tanis has been involved dancing, choreographing and teaching in the Calgary dance community and was on staff at Decidedly Jazz Danceworks for ten years. The past few years of her career have been dedicated to developing her skills as a dance instructor. She enjoys teaching a variety of disciplines including; tap, jazz, ballet, childrens classes, funk and hip hop. Her work with the Calgary Board of Education as an Artist in Residence has enabled her to spread her passion for dance.
Tanis's passion and love for dance has been passed on to her two children that keep her very busy with all their activities. We are thrilled to have her join our teaching team for the third year.
Miss Kira Greasley
Miss Kira has trained and danced in the Calgary area since she was 3. She has successfully taken and passed her Al Gilbert Grade 8 tap and grade 4 jazz exams, as well as her Brian Foley A.D.A.P.T. advanced exams. She has completed her British Association Of Teachers Of Dancing (B.A.T.D.) exams and her Dance Educators Syllabus ballet exams. In 2009 she set her mind to take her advanced 1 Royal Academy Of Dancing ( R.A.D.) ballet exam and passed with flying colors! We were all so proud of her! Miss Kira has taken classes with such well known choreographers as, Joe Tremaine, Doug Caldwell, Mia Micheals and Benji Schwimmer, She has toured and performed at Disneyland in Los Angeles, Las Vegas and the Broadway Dance Center where she took class with Savion Glover. Miss Kira has taight for 21 years and is still actively competing throughout Alberta. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Communcations and culture and arts and science diploma .Her favorite pastime is reading a good book and snuggling with her 2 cats,
